COVID-19 Parenting & Keeping it Positive

For many of us (myself included) parenting is both the greatest gift and the biggest challenge we face each day. Now, with the COVID 19 crisis, parents are being asked to amplify their parenting skills in numerous ways, including to implement their education, to provide them social interaction they wish was from their peers, to be sure they get exercise and food amidst a shelter in place, and most importantly to guide them through this unprecedented time period in world history. One thing I know for sure is that I cannot be everything at once and it can get over complicated rather quickly. This info-graphic from the WHO is a great template for staying positive with our children through this difficult transition. If we think it’s hard on us as adults, it’s even more confusing and frustrating for our children. What we can do is remain calm, breathe, and stay attuned to our children’s needs. What they really need is our patience, positivity, and connection-the rest will come.
