Parenting

I truly believe parents are experts in their children, and given the appropriate tools can flourish in the practice of parenting. That being said, there are a variety of reason why good parents may find themselves seeking guidance when parenting their child.

A few examples include:

  1. When setting limits seem to backfire or simply feel too difficult.

  2. When a child resists therapy but something has to change.

  3. When the parent relationship is in conflict or the parenting perspective strongly differs.

  4. Or for a particularly difficult time period or transition in the family such as grief and loss, an illness in the family, the addition of another sibling, blending families, etc...

Parenting must grow and adjust with a child’s needs and stage of development, as well as take into account the family context. We can discuss your child, his or her specific needs and stage of life, and work together to build a parenting approach that provides a balance of structure, and support for growth and learning. This will promote deeper connection, communication, and compassion in the parent-child relationship.
