Cynthia Psaila M.S. is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has been providing psychotherapy to adults, couples and teens in Sonoma County since 2011. She acquired her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley in Sociology, where she received highest honors at graduation. During her studies at U.C. Berkeley, she formalized her interest in family systems and her perspective that the interconnection of human relationships has a profound impact on the health and well-being of individuals. She then obtained her Master of Science at the Dominican University of California, graduating with the outstanding student award. Her studies there focused on applications of clinical skill and a collaborative mental health approach.
Since then, Cynthia has extensive experience working with adults, couples and teens facing important life milestones, academic dilemmas, difficult family and relationship transitions, instances of sudden loss and traumatic experiences, and the emotional dis-regulation of anxiety and depression. Her approach is compassionate and focused on the resilience of individuals and relationships. Other areas of specialty include advanced training in equine assisted therapy, certification as a trauma treatment professional, parent education, and professional consultation.
Cynthias’s guiding therapeutic intention is to provide a skilled, compassionate, caring environment where people can grow in relationships, learn about their personal strengths and abilities, and build a skill set for maintaining a life that is robust.
